I'm beginning to think that Europe is a little snobbish in their choices for DAWs. But, here in the States, there are thousands of Sonar users. Will you ever publish an Ultimate Guide to Sonar 7?

We would consider it, if there was enough demand. If other readers would be interested in this please email me at the CM office.

I really like all of these special issues and have been buying them ever since I found Computer Music at Borders. In addition to all of the other requests you've no doubt been flooded with, I'd like to beg for a guide to Logic 8, my favorite new DAW.

Thanks for the magazines.

I'm told the GarageBand Special has just arrived into port in Australia, so should be on sale any day now. I will update you when I have more details.
As a general rule it's normally around 6 weeks after the UK onsale date.
Thanks all for your suggestions - we will look into these.

I just discovered your web site threw a link from the Apple main page talking about your article on GarageBand. And I have to say I am very disappointed to find just a teaser and a link to purchase a subscription to your ...oh God let me say this..."PAPER" magazine. I am appalled to find that in today's electronic age you don't give your clients the choice to subscribe to an electronic version of the magazine. I have long ago stopped buying paper products favoring the more environmentally friendly E-Version. You could still make money with probably better margins "no print and transportation costs" if you sold your complete magazine in electronic form. I for one would consider subscribing, but no thanks for the stuff that clogs up my mailbox and eventually my garbage disposal.

your magazine sucks why dont you publish guides that human beings can understand iave been involved with computers and music for 20 years and dont personally know anyone who can go thru all the technial bullshet to produce a song go to any music store and ask the employess if they know how to do any of the technical stuff and their dumbfounded what software companies need to do is produce software that is easy to use instead of spending all their mony on ads stating that their product does this and that well that may be true but if you have to be a technocrat to do it then it sucks. your magazine should talk and spearhead that issue most people that buty the software maybe use 5 percent of its power the music software industry is a ripoff

appeal of CM!

Hey!

I was checking out the Apple website and I found my way here =)

I purchased issue 1 of Computer Music way back in the day as an impulse buy!! I've been hooked on music production ever since!!! =D

I mainly use SONAR 4 PE, Reason and Cubase 3SX.

Check out some of my tunes over here:

http://www.thehidden.net/multimedia.htm

Anyway, I recently got myself an iMac but I haven't really played around with GarageBand yet. I might have to check this special addition out...

By the way, how much do you think Issue 1 of Computer Music is worth now... ;D

This could very well be one of the greatest single publications ever. Get out there and FIND one. I picked up the last one this morning after reading Apple's "review" at my local 24 hr newstand. I am certain there are not very many out there so get on it. This is the definitive GB pub, even the reviews of the loops are golden. WOW, Computer Music Rules for this edition!!!

These special issues are always great, but there's one to me that seems obvious and that's a Pro Tools Special. There are so many users of this DAW all over the world and with Mbox 2 and the 003, even more so and with ever more powerful computers, it's given us the once exclusive world of the pro studio in our homes. How about it?

Hi all
If you can't find the GarageBand Special locally you can order it online here:
http://www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/store/displayitem.asp?sid=424&id=23157&custid=13@06@200816897@118961603&setext=magazine

That's a rather long URL so alternatively you can go to:
www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk
-> Browse Magazines (menu on left hand side of page)
-> select "Music"
-> In the Computer Music box, select -> Read more and subscribe
Scroll to the bottom of that page for a list of CM Specials to order.

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions.

Posted by Victor Gaspar (127.0.0.1) on June 17, 2008 at 11:12 AM BST #

My brother bought the magazine for me at Borders. Its content was okay except for two things. One, the guys who prepared the CD for the magazine put "Apple Loops" on it. That sounds good except their compression was Zip instead of Stuffit. In other words, people who use a Mac can't open them. And people who use a Windows system can open them but then can't use them.
Secondly, whenever I have recorded a song, professionally or on GarageBand, I always start with setting the tempo (drums), then do a "scratch track", followed by the individual tracks of vocals, instruments, etc.

P.S. If you would like to hear samples of the elegant simplicity of GarageBand you can visit my website www.MySpace.com/robertrhoadesmusic . Listen to the song "And I Cried". The flanger sound effect was added to my acoustic Gibson after recording. The drums and tambourine were Apple loops.

RE: Robert Rhoades - Macs since the introduction of OSX have been able to unzip Zip files. By default, when you double click on a Zip file, it is unzipped in the same directory in which the file is located. If you're having problems with the files on the DVD, it's likely you're double clicking on them directly from the DVD, which won't work because you can't write a file to the DVD. Drag the files to your desktop first to copy them to your computer, then double click them to unzip.

Then, and only then, will you be ready to rock like a motherfuckin' monster.

Go on and look for the listing where to get the special edition #29 written twice here by Andrea / Computer Music. 1st was written 6/13/08 I sent to the UK from the USA and it cost $17.99 in USA dollars. It arrived in less than four weeks. And I just ordered that one special edition. Going to the basic Computer Music Magazine, is discouraging but if you dig down in it you will find it OK. Take some digging so hunt through these messages as Andrea writes instructions twice in all this listing. .

Hi,

I was wondering how much you would charge to advertise on your computer related website. I have clients looking to place small text based ads on sites like yours. If you are interested let me know your price and if you prefer to be paid via PayPal or check? I prefer the ads be placed at the top, middle, or bottom of the main content area of the site. However, I am sure we can work out placement. For more information please email me and checkout www.authoritysites.com our FAQ site which should answer most of your questions. I look forward to selling your advertising space and adding your site to my inventory. Please email me with any questions.

Is this guide available in Sydney Australia. We use Garage band with our students in some G4 GUITAR schools so we believe it would be helpful to guitar students. Thank you.

it is unzipped in the same directory in which the file is located. If you're having problems with the files on the DVD, http://www.zuneconverter.org it's likely you're double clicking on them directly from the DVD
